Alright, first recipe with pressure cooker. Sure it doesn’t look pretty but it smells good and tastes great too. Let’s get started!
Hello 2020!
Hellloo!! It’s been a while. A lot has changed since my last post in 2017 but my interest in cooking hasn’t waned and I am excited to start contributing to this blog again.
Over the last year and a bit, I’ve settled into a new life and a new routine. You see, in the past, my cooking was purely for leisure – it was fun for me to learn to cook things which were different to what I have grown up eating. These days however, it’s become ‘We have to cook because we have to feed ourselves and yes, we could just grab some takeaway or eat out, but we should try to eat healthier and save money’. Tell me we’re not the only ones who think this way?
Vietnamese Noodle Salad
This noodle salad is so refreshing on a hot day. I made it last summer, and had only just realised now that I have forgetten to upload it here. Enjoy.
Turnip Cake – Luo Buo Gao
One day, for no reason, I decided to look up how to make Luo Buo Gao. I was just curious how they made it and whether or not it was easy. After talking to some friends, I realised it was a common dish to make during Chinese New Year. There was only one problem, my family isn’t even here for Chinese New Year! Fortunately, this year’s festivities fall close to another day – Australia Day and so, I decided to use this opportunity to prepare it for a gathering around that time.
Bagels
I am totally obsessed with this song at the moment and so I decided it to use it as the background music for this video. We had lots of fun making the bagel. I think the best part was shaping the dough into the circular shapes and boiling them – the part of bread making that is unique to bagels.
Mapo Tofu
I love spicy food and recently I looked up some recipes to make my own Mapo Tofu at home. It is delicious with rice, but you can also have it with noodles.
Mango Sticky Rice
This is a great dessert for those who cannot have milk products. It is simple to make and is best served chilled.

Nasi Goreng
The other day, I decided to purchase and try a Nasi Goreng sauce. I wanted something tasty, for when I feel like being lazy.
Orange Jack O’Lantern
I’d like to share with you my take on the Jack O’Lantern that I made for Halloween this year.
Thai Basil Chicken
Introducing the very first video to ever feature on Specialilytea.wordpress.com.
The other day, I was craving something salty and spicy, so I looked up the recipe for this Thai dish that I love. I remember the very first time I tried it, it was at one of those “2 choice with rice” takeaway shops. I loved the flavour but found the dish too spicy. Over the years however, I’ve become a lot more capable of enjoying spicy dishes yay!
